Zelenskyy Suggests Svyrydenko to Control Government
The proposal marks a significant step as Ukraine looks to overhaul its executive leadership.
Following a meeting with Svyrydenko in Kyiv, Zelenskyy issued a statement on X, outlining that their discussion focused on “concrete measures” aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s economic strength and expanding its domestic arms manufacturing, among various other priorities.
“To achieve this aim, we are launching a transformation of Ukraine’s executive power. I have proposed that Yuliia Svyrydenko lead the Government of Ukraine and significantly renew its work,” Zelenskyy stated.
The head of state also noted that he anticipates a formal outline of the restructured government’s action plan “in the near future.”
Svyrydenko was appointed as the first deputy prime minister in November 2021 and has also held the role of economy minister in Ukraine.
The announcement comes as the country continues to adapt its leadership to better address wartime demands and economic recovery.
