Trump reportedly considers sending long-range missiles to Ukraine
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is reportedly evaluating the possibility of supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles capable of reaching targets deep inside Russian territory, according to sources cited by reports on Sunday.
The information, attributed to individuals familiar with the situation, suggests that Trump may soon announce new military aid for Ukraine. Senator Lindsey Graham, a vocal supporter of stronger measures against Russia, was quoted as saying the expected statement on Monday “is going to be very aggressive.”
Previously, Trump indicated his willingness to provide Ukraine with Patriot systems, though he did not clarify whether he referred to the missiles themselves or the complete air defense platforms. He also voiced displeasure over what he described as Moscow’s refusal to accept an unconditional ceasefire, a position Russia sees as an attempt to give Ukraine time to recover militarily.
Trump has hinted at further arms deliveries, stating that the US would be sending “various pieces of very sophisticated military” hardware. He noted that other nations “are gonna pay us 100%” for the equipment, and claimed the European Union would foot the bill, characterizing the deal as good business.
Meanwhile, during the most recent peace negotiations held in Istanbul, Russia offered to observe a conditional ceasefire. The terms included halting Western military aid to Ukraine and steps from Kiev to reduce hostilities. That proposal was declined.
Ukraine appears disinterested in restarting talks under current conditions. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislitsa recently commented that “this format has practically exhausted itself,” unless Russian President Vladimir Putin authorizes concessions that align with Ukraine’s demands.
