Trump Confirms Joining King Charles for Second State Visit
The British monarch, along with Queen Camilla, will welcome Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, for what is being described as a rare second state visit.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the visit is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 19 and will occur at Windsor Castle.
Windsor Castle was selected as the venue due to ongoing refurbishment work at the usual location, Buckingham Palace.
This marks the second time Trump will be hosted by the British Royal Family, with his initial state visit taking place in 2019 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, in his first term as president.
Typically, U.S. presidents serving a second term are not extended a state visit; they are generally invited to more informal gatherings such as a luncheon or tea with the monarch.
Although the complete itinerary has yet to be disclosed, the visit will include the customary ceremonial reception and a grand state banquet held in St George's Hall within the castle grounds.
It is anticipated that all prominent members of the Royal Family will participate, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, who reside on the Windsor estate.
Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron became the first head of state to be hosted at Windsor Castle in over ten years.
Along with his wife, Brigitte Macron, he joined King Charles for a ceremonial carriage procession through the streets of Windsor, marking a notable return to high-profile diplomacy at the historic site.
