Freedom Flotilla Coalition Kicks Off Fresh Gaza Mission
"Just weeks after Israeli forces illegally seized our boat ‘Madleen’ and abducted 12 unarmed civilians in international waters, we continue — with global solidarity — to challenge Israel’s illegal and deadly siege," the coalition declared in a statement on X.
The group emphasized that their mission is dedicated to Gaza children, and that the ship carries both humanitarian supplies and a clear message of "solidarity."
While the exact number of participants aboard Handala remains unconfirmed, estimates suggest up to 18 people may be involved. Among them are reportedly two members of the far-left French political party La France Insoumise (LFI).
Earlier, the British-flagged ship Madleen had set out from Sicily on June 6 in an attempt to breach Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Three days later, on June 9, Israeli forces intercepted the Madleen, detaining all 12 individuals on board.
