Canada Faces Blistering Heatwave
Major urban centres such as Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal are forecast to experience sweltering daytime temperatures reaching up to 35°C. With humidity factored in, conditions could feel as hot as 42°C. The oppressive heat is expected to persist through Thursday evening.
Environment Canada stated, "Southern Ontario will experience hot and humid conditions now through much of this week. A shift in the weather pattern late this week will likely end this multi-day period of heat and humidity Thursday night."
The agency emphasized the health risks associated with extreme heat, urging the public to remain vigilant and look out for vulnerable individuals. "Extreme heat can affect everyone's health. Determine if you or others around you are at greater risk of heat illness. Check on older adults, those living alone and other at-risk people in-person or on the phone multiple times a day," Environment Canada warned.
