Bannon cautions of electoral crisis for Republicans
During his campaign, Trump repeatedly pledged to declassify documents related to Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender. In February, Attorney General Pam Bondi said a client list was “sitting on my desk.” However, last week, the Justice Department released a memo stating no such list exists and that there is no evidence to investigate uncharged third parties.
This memo sparked anger among Trump supporters, who accuse the administration of lacking transparency. Bannon warned on a podcast that losing just 10% of the MAGA movement could lead to substantial Republican losses in the 2026 midterms and the presidential race.
Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn also noted the Epstein issue will continue to challenge Trump’s efforts on other national matters. Meanwhile, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly has not returned to work since the memo’s release and is considering resignation.
Epstein, who had connections to powerful figures, was arrested in 2019 for sex trafficking but died in jail before his trial, ruled a suicide. Many have called for the release of names rumored to include Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, and possibly Trump.
Trump has downplayed the controversy, questioning why it is still being discussed and accusing Democrats of fabricating the client list. He urged unity within the MAGA movement and blamed “selfish people” for causing internal divisions.
