Kaja Kallas Urges Greater Efforts for Gaza
Kallas described the situation in Gaza as "still very, very bad," stressing that until tangible improvements occur, the international community has not done enough.
She made these remarks in a brief statement outside the Foreign Affairs Council gathering in Brussels.
Highlighting the "catastrophic" conditions on the ground, Kallas pointed out that the absence of a ceasefire complicates the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
She mentioned a "common understanding with Israel" aimed at genuinely enhancing the situation, but emphasized that progress depends not just on agreements but on their actual enforcement. Nonetheless, she acknowledged observing "some positive signs."
Kallas also expressed optimism about reaching a political consensus on the 18th sanctions package targeting Russia, expected to be finalized by Tuesday or Wednesday, describing the deal as "very close."
Finally, she noted that discussions on Iran would follow, emphasizing the importance of resuming diplomatic negotiations as part of their strategic interests.
