Nvidia to continue shipments of its AI chips
(MENAFN) Nvidia announced Tuesday that it will recommence shipments of its H20 artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China after receiving confirmation from U.S. authorities that export licenses will now be approved.
"The U.S. government has assured NVIDIA that licenses will be granted, and NVIDIA hopes to start deliveries soon. Finally, (CEO Jensen) Huang announced a new, fully compliant NVIDIA RTX PRO GPU that 'is ideal for digital twin AI for smart factories and logistics,'" the company said in a statement.
Back in April, the U.S. government imposed new restrictions on Nvidia’s H20 chip sales to China, intensifying its technological standoff with Beijing. The restrictions required Nvidia to obtain a license for such exports “for the indefinite future.”
As a result of these regulatory measures, Nvidia anticipated a financial impact of up to $5.5 billion in its fiscal first quarter due to the limitations placed on its H20 chips bound for the Chinese market.
In its latest update, the company said CEO Jensen Huang recently met with American officials, including President Donald Trump, to reaffirm the firm’s commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing, enhancing the country’s AI infrastructure, generating jobs, and ensuring that the United States remains at the forefront of artificial intelligence development.
