Zelensky Urges Trump to Reconsider Missile Proposal
This request follows Trump’s recent commitment to supply Ukraine with sophisticated arms systems, though he emphasized that the financial burden should be assumed by allied countries.
In a conversation with a news agency on Tuesday, Zelensky appealed for expanded military backing, tying it to a component of his broader “victory plan.”
This strategy had earlier been shared with both President Joe Biden and Trump in anticipation of the 2024 US presidential contest.
"I remember that we had a powerful deterrence package before President Trump became president. I wanted America to sell us such a package. But it was not done," Zelensky stated.
Earlier reports in the press suggested that Trump might authorize more deliveries of long-range munitions to Ukraine under new policy initiatives.
Some media outlets even alleged that he had advised Zelensky to strike Moscow and St. Petersburg, although the White House has denied such claims.
Publicly, the American president has counseled against offensive actions targeting the Russian capital.
