Vehicle crashes into masses in LA wounding more than 30 people
Captain Adam Van Gerpen, the LAFD’s public information officer, told Newsweek that preliminary findings suggest the driver may have lost consciousness before the collision occurred.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. near a music venue, where a crowd had gathered outside a nightclub. A Nissan Versa reportedly veered into the group, also colliding with a taco truck and a valet stand.
Van Gerpen noted that paramedics discovered one of the victims had suffered a gunshot wound, though the identity of that person remains unknown.
“This is now a police matter and will be part of a major investigation by the LAPD,” Van Gerpen said.
Videos shared online show emergency crews responding at the scene in the chaotic aftermath.
In a separate incident on Friday, an explosion at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department training center killed at least three veteran deputies. The cause of the blast and what the deputies were doing at the time remain unclear, according to the Associated Press.
