Officials Report Nearly 100 Missing in Texas Floods Found Safe
The revised figure marks a major shift in the ongoing crisis, as the tally of missing persons had once surged beyond 160 following the catastrophic July 4th flooding that ravaged the Texas Hill Country.
“This remarkable progress reflects countless hours of coordinated search and rescue operations, careful investigative work, and an unwavering commitment to bringing clarity and hope to families during an unimaginably difficult time,” said Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice in a statement posted to social media.
As of Sunday, Kerr County had reported a staggering 107 fatalities — 70 adults and 37 children — making the disaster one of the deadliest in the area’s recorded history.
Across Texas, the total death toll has risen to at least 135, after the Guadalupe River rose an astonishing 26 feet, sweeping away homes, cabins, and entire communities in its path.
One of the most severely impacted locations was Camp Mystic, a longstanding Christian summer camp for girls, where at least 27 campers and staff members lost their lives.
Recovery operations remain ongoing at full scale, involving more than 1,000 personnel from local, state, and federal agencies, aided by thousands of volunteers, who continue combing the river corridor from its source to Canyon Lake.
“Our thoughts remain with the families still awaiting news, and we will continue to stand with them as efforts persist,” said Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr.
