French Foreign Minister Departs to Kyiv to Reaffirm France’s Backing

(MENAFN) French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot is set to arrive in Kyiv on Monday to reaffirm France’s steadfast backing of Ukraine as the conflict with Russia enters its fourth year.

Barrot is traveling to the Ukrainian capital by train to attend a conference of ambassadors, where he will emphasize France’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom.

“I am traveling to Kyiv. I will participate in the conference of ambassadors and reaffirm, on behalf of France, our unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom of the Ukrainian people,” Barrot stated on X prior to his departure.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha welcomed Barrot’s upcoming visit, expressing his anticipation to host the French minister as a guest of honor at the event in Kyiv.

"This is a recognition of your personal commitment and France’s leadership. Together, we are working to restore peace, security, and justice," Sybiha posted on X.

Last week in Brussels, Barrot informed journalists that he accepted Sybiha’s invitation to travel to Kyiv and reaffirm France’s and Europe’s continued support for Ukraine’s resistance efforts.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the convening of all Ukrainian ambassadors in an evening video address. He highlighted that the diplomats have been assigned clear directives alongside upcoming reforms within the Foreign Ministry.

“These will be presented by the Minister. We are preparing to significantly expand the capabilities of Ukrainian diplomacy,” Zelenskyy said.
