The crash occurred on Sunday in the Imranli district, when the bus, en route from the eastern province of Agri to Izmir in the west, veered into a mountainside near Kuzkoy village along the Sivas-Erzincan highway.
Emergency response teams, including police, gendarmerie units, medical personnel, and the country’s disaster management agency, quickly arrived at the scene.
Authorities reported that all 33 injured passengers were taken to hospitals, with one listed in serious condition.
Data from the General Directorate of Security shows that 2,713 people have died in traffic accidents across Türkiye so far in 2024. The highest number of crashes has been recorded in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir — with Istanbul alone logging 97,354 incidents.
