Trump approves Gabbard’s ‘Russiagate’ coup allegations
On Friday, Gabbard released over 100 pages of newly declassified documents outlining what she called a coordinated scheme by senior Obama officials, with Obama at the helm, to politicize intelligence and fabricate allegations of Trump’s collusion with Russia. This, she argued, triggered the lengthy Trump-Russia investigation, known as ‘Russiagate,’ which she labeled “a years-long coup attempt against [Trump].”
In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump praised Gabbard and her team for exposing what he described as “high-level election fraud” orchestrated by Obama and his allies. Trump, who has consistently denied any Russian ties, encouraged Gabbard to continue her efforts.
The released documents reportedly show Obama directed officials to ignore intelligence assessments clearing Trump of Russian connections and instead fabricate claims linking his campaign to Moscow. These claims were then allegedly leaked to the media to justify the investigation.
Gabbard argued these actions led to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s two-year probe, which found evidence of Russian interference but no proof of a criminal conspiracy with Trump’s campaign. She also linked the plot to Trump’s subsequent impeachments, legal battles, and worsening US-Russia relations.
White House deputy press secretary Harrison Fields told Fox News these documents underpin a decade of political attacks on Trump, calling Obama’s administration “the most corrupt in history” and accusing mainstream media of perpetuating the Russiagate narrative.
Gabbard’s announcement comes alongside an ongoing investigation into the Russiagate scandal. She has vowed to hand over all evidence to the Justice Department, insisting that those involved, regardless of their power, must face accountability.
