Chinese Foreign Minister Arrives in Pakistan for Talks
Wang and Dar are set to jointly lead the sixth round of the China-Pakistan strategic dialogue, underscoring the deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
A local broadcaster aired footage of Dar warmly welcoming Wang at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad.
This visit follows Wang’s two-day trip to India and marks his second trip to Pakistan within three years. Besides his scheduled talks with Dar, Wang will also confer with other Pakistani leaders.
China and Pakistan, which share a long-standing border, formalized diplomatic relations in 1950. Over recent years, China has emerged as Pakistan’s primary arms supplier, with bilateral trade surpassing $23 billion in 2024.
The relationship is anchored in what the two describe as an "all-weather strategic cooperative partnership," highlighted by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor—a massive $62 billion infrastructure initiative connecting China's Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Gwadar port in Balochistan, a project of immense strategic importance to both countries.
