IRGC Eliminates Militants in Southeastern Iran

(MENAFN) The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran disclosed on Wednesday that its forces had eliminated more than a dozen armed fighters in Sistan and Baluchestan, a restive province in the country’s southeast.

As reported by a news agency, the Quds Base of the IRGC confirmed that its personnel executed three coordinated operations at dawn in the cities of Iranshahr, Khash, and Saravan.

These joint missions reportedly led to the deaths of 13 militants, while several others were taken into custody.

The statement did not immediately specify which group the militants belonged to, nor did it mention whether there were any casualties among Iranian forces during the engagements.

Sistan and Baluchestan, located near the frontiers of Pakistan and Afghanistan, has been a persistent hotspot for illegal trafficking and insurgent activity.

The province has witnessed frequent violent incidents involving both criminal and extremist factions.

Just last week, state television reported that five police personnel lost their lives in an armed assault within the same province.

Although no faction stepped forward to take responsibility for the attack, the extremist outfit Jaish al-Adl—translated as the “Army of Justice”—has previously claimed responsibility for strikes on both civilian and security targets in the region.

The Iranian government officially labels Jaish al-Adl as a terrorist group.
