Russia Slams Zelenskyy’s Warning to Kremlin Officials
Earlier this week, in an interview with a US-based news outlet, Zelenskyy revealed that he has support from US President Donald Trump to target Russian sites including energy infrastructure and military factories. He added that Kyiv would deploy additional long-range weapons from Washington if provided.
While emphasizing that Ukraine would avoid bombing civilians, stating they are "not terrorists," Zelenskyy cautioned that key Russian power centers, like the Kremlin, could be targeted. He specifically warned Kremlin officials “have to know where the bomb shelters are.”
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded sharply in an interview with a Russian journalist, portions of which were shared on a Telegram channel. Peskov accused Zelenskyy of posturing for European audiences who now finance Ukraine, saying, “Zelenskyy is trying to demonstrate to the Europeans, who will now act as his breadwinner … that he is a ‘brave warrior.’ Meanwhile, the situation on the front-lines suggests otherwise.”
Peskov further painted Kyiv’s position in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and peace negotiations as rapidly deteriorating. “I think that internally they are aware of this, but they are bluffing here,” he stated.
When asked about Moscow’s stance on the possibility of such Ukrainian strikes, Peskov said: "Our commander-in-chief, the president (Vladimir Putin), he has already spoken about this. So, it's better not to even talk about it. And everyone understands that."
