CIA Director Seeks to Strengthen Ties with EU
The report, released on Friday, stated that Ratcliffe met with the EU’s leading diplomat, Kaja Kallas, alongside senior representatives from the EU Intelligence and Situation Center (INTCEN) and the EU Military Staff Intelligence Directorate (EUMS).
During the meetings, he aimed to reinforce Washington’s dedication to intelligence-sharing and emphasize that the CIA “wants to keep lines open,” the media outlet noted.
CIA spokesperson Liz Lyons told the news outlet that Ratcliffe addressed “evolving threats” posed by Russia and China.
She added, “Any reporting that suggests concerns were raised that the US is not a reliable partner are false and disconnected from reality.”
The article from the media outlet also indicated that some allied nations’ trust began to waver following US President Donald Trump’s temporary suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine last March, as well as his appointment of “loyalists” to significant positions.
Certain Democrats have labeled Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s nominee to oversee intelligence agencies, a “Russia asset,” a claim she has denied.
Separately, last month, CIA-affiliated technology firm Palantir voiced criticism over the United Kingdom’s plan to implement digital IDs for all citizens.
The company’s UK head, Louis Mosley, described the initiative as “very controversial.”
