Russia, Ukraine Both Claim Overnight Strikes
The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces carried out a “massive strike” using precision ground-based weapons and drones against Ukrainian energy facilities. The ministry described the operation as retaliation for Ukrainian "terrorist attacks" on Russian civilian sites, adding that "all designated targets had been hit."
Earlier Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had unleashed nearly 300 strike drones, 18 ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles overnight, primarily aimed at crippling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
In response, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that Ukrainian units struck the Atlant Aero plant in Russia’s Rostov region overnight. The facility, according to the statement, is engaged in producing and testing strike and reconnaissance drones, including Molniya-type UAVs.
Kyiv’s military said the attack was intended to curb Russia’s drone production capacity and limit strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported its air defenses intercepted multiple aerial threats over the past 24 hours, including guided bombs, rockets and unmanned aircraft.
