Trump’s Complaints Over Iran War Leaks Trigger Justice Department Probe
(MENAFN) According to reports, US President Donald Trump’s concerns over media leaks related to the Iran war have led to an intensified investigation by the Justice Department.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed sources, that Trump privately raised the issue with acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, urging action after what he viewed as damaging disclosures following last month’s conflict involving Iran.
Blanche reportedly committed to pursuing subpoenas targeting journalists connected to sensitive national security reporting, according to the report. During one meeting, Trump allegedly presented a collection of news articles he believed threatened national security, with one marked by a sticky note labeled “treason.”
The report further states that senior officials at both the Justice Department and the Pentagon have discussed expanding investigations into the source of the leaks.
Trump is said to be particularly focused on reporting that detailed internal deliberations over the decision to launch military action, including accounts of advice given by his senior advisers during the decision-making process.
A Justice Department spokesperson, as quoted in the report, said: “In all circumstances, the Department of Justice follows the facts and applies the law to identify those committing crimes against the United States.”
